Working Courses Note
Working Courses are intended for Handlers and Dogs that will be working on Shoots or competing in Scurries/Tests/Trials.
Please do not book a working course if competing/working is not your end goal.
Introduction to Gundog Training Workshop

Working Novice Courses
Saturday 14th September will see the first of our BASC Event Days.
The day starts at 10am with an Introduction to Gundog Training Workshop specifically designed for Handlers that are new or at the beginning of their Gundog training journey. The Workshop will promote Positive Reinforcement training techniques that can be used to teach all Gundog Foundation Behaviours.
Handlers will learn how to communicate through voice, body and whistle cues and how these will later be used for more advanced handling.
1pm sees the start of our Working Novice Foundation Workshop. For Novice Dogs/Handlers, the workshop covers foundation behaviours such as sit/stay, recall, heel work, seen/memory retrieves and hunting. Handlers will learn how we layer training, link foundation exercises and how to reward their dog through different training techniques.
Our day ends at 4pm with a Fun Scurry competition. Handlers will have an opportunity to test their skills on the Long Retrieve, Bales Run, 2 Dummy Multi Pick Up and 3 Dummy Multi Pick Up.
Rosettes and prizes will be awarded for 1st to 3rd in all Scurries.
We will also run an accumulator competition with times added together for all Scurries and rosettes/prizes given for 1st to 3rd in the accumulator.

6 week Foundation course for working dogs
Classes teach handlers how to use verbal, body and whistle cues to achieve desired behaviours. Incorporating sit/stay, steadiness, heel work, directional handling, stop whistle, mark/memory/blind retrieves and hunting, the course provides a solid foundation for the working dog.
Novice Level 2 Entrance Requirements
For dogs that have foundations in place and are ready for the next stage of their development.
Dogs need to have regularly worked in a group class, demonstrated that they have foundations/a good recall and be able to retrieve dummies. If your dog requires a long line, please book Working Novice.  Please Note that Starter Pistol’s are used in Novice Level 2 Classes so dogs must have been introduced to shot.

Working GUNDOG Intermediate

6 Week intermediate Course
Our Intermediate Course builds on Novice Foundations through the introduction of memory/blind retrieves, obstacles and more advanced handling skills.
The course further develops the use of the stop whistle, working with distractions, steadiness around game, hunting and much, much more.
Entrance Requirements
All dogs must be able to sit at a distance of 20m for 1 minute, be steady to thrown dummies and retrieve quickly and efficiently to hand in a group class.

Gundog Gold (Puppy)

4 week Perfect Puppy Course
Our Puppy Course begins with an introduction to Positive Reinforcement Training and quickly progresses to lots of fun engagement activities. During the course, you will learn how to effectively communicate with your puppy and start teaching foundation behaviours including sit, recall and loose lead walking. From week 1, we will demonstrate how to introduce verbal, body and whistle cues to get your training off to the perfect start.
To further assist handlers, all courses include the following training videos:- hand touch, sit/stay, look, Recall, Loose Lead walking, Middle, Twist/Spin and food bowl exercises. On completion of the course, handlers will receive a goodie bag and a Rosette.

Pet Gundog Novice
Monday (Pet Novice) 19.15 – 20.15
4 week Foundation Course.
Classes teach handlers how to use verbal, body and whistle cues to develop focus and desired behaviour. Incorporating sit/stay/steadiness, recall, loose lead walking, heel work and retrieving, the course provides a solid foundation for both pet and working dogs. At the end of the course you will also have an opportunity to take part in our 3D and Ready, Steady, Go challenge. If successful, you will graduate to our Intermediate Class and be presented with a certificate and rosette.
